Wow. Hanukkah is already over. I feel like this year was a blur. I’m sure it was for many reasons, the placement in early December with school still in session, the many wonderful events we had for our kids, youth and families to attend, life happening… I find that when things get really busy, I get stressed. There doesn’t seem to be enough time and enough of me to go around. As I find my footing as your Educator, I have to work hard to take a moment to breathe. To take stock in what is going on and to evaluate all of the good that we are doing, while finding better ways to do things that may not have run smoothly. When I do that, I find that what we are doing here at Temple Or Rishon is powerful.
I don’t know how many of you made it to Hanukkah Shabbat last Friday but it surely was a magical evening. Seeing so many menorahs lighting up the Bimah, so many bodies filling the sanctuary, so many voices lifted in song. New faces, familiar faces, beaming children… it was wonderful. Thank you to everyone who came to be a part of that special time. If you have not taken the time to join us for a temple event, or a Friday night service, a Tot Shabbat or an adult education class, you really should. I can honestly say that you are missing out.
So, come. Be here. Find what’s been missing in your week.
+++++++++++++++++++++++ NEEDS ++++++++++++++++++++++++
I need each and every one of you to enjoy each other over the winter break. Take some time to read a little Torah. Take some time to have a meal with friends, to play a game, to watch a movie together. Recharge a little. When we come back in January, it will be full speed ahead with B’nai Mitzvahs and Purim, Fundraisers and Passover! Rest up, I’m gonna need you!
Are you finding extra special value in your Temple Or Rishon experience lately? Consider making an end of the year donation to the religious school fund or the educator’s discretionary fund. I promise your money is well spent in helping to fund the fabulous programming that we are providing here.
Challah Kits are still available. Want to make Challah over the break? Pick up a challah kit for $10. We have about 15 left. Get them while you can!

Religious School Update
Well, last Sunday we had a fabulously fun Hanukkah Celebration. The Men’s Club provided delicious latkes, the kids made paper dreidels and menorah cards, played bingo and had fun with relay races. Then we had our annual dreidel spin off with the top prize going to Riley Froomin!
I think everyone had a really great time! I know I did!
Thank you to our teachers, parents and madrichim for making it happen.
Have a great Winter Break!
